The principle: production and consumption are matched every 15 minutes
Sharing is recorded by the Czech electricity data centre (EDC). The building's PV production and the consumption of participating flats are compared in 15-minute intervals. Electricity produced in a given interval is divided among the flats that were drawing at that moment, according to an agreed key. The flat then pays its supplier only for the rest.
Each flat keeps its meter and supplier
Nothing is rebuilt in the flats. Each flat keeps its meter, contract and the supplier it chose. The shared electricity is deducted on its bill. Flats that do not want to join do not have to.
What the building has to decide
- the owners' meeting approves the investment in PV and possibly a battery
- a key is agreed for dividing the produced electricity among the flats
- it is decided who manages the sharing and registers it with EDC
- participating flats give their consent
Sharing rules have been evolving in recent years. That is why we always check the current EDC rules before registration.
The role of a battery
PV produces mostly around noon, when most people are at work. Without a battery, a large part of production therefore flows into the grid. A battery stores the midday surplus and delivers it in the evening, when flats and common areas use the most. A larger part of production is shared and the payback improves.
Where to start
The first step is the building's consumption: data for the common areas and ideally a summary of consumption of the flats interested in sharing. From that we design PV output and battery capacity and prepare a document for the owners' meeting. More on the page Solar PV and batteries for apartment buildings.
Send us your consumption, we will design the battery
Phone and e-mail are enough to start. We reply within 24 hours on working days, ask for the data we need and send a proposal with the capacity, inverter compatibility and installation steps. Free of charge and without obligation. Prefer to talk? 775 654 443
